O Som Do Jazz

Had a great rehearsal last week with members of O Som Do Jazz and am looking forward to performing tonight in St. Petersburg, and on Thursday at the SCF Neel Auditorium.

O Som Do Jazz (the sound of jazz in Portuguese) recaptures the grace, energy and spirit of 1960s and ’70s Brazilian Bossa Nova, MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) and samba-jazz. Rio de Janeiro singer Andrea Moraes Manson has a natural understanding of this wonderful music and sings in Portuguese and English. This international group of musicians includes Alejandro Arenas, bass; David Cubillos, piano and SCF alumnus originally from Colombia; Austin Vickrey, sax; Mark Feinman, drums; and David Manson, trombone. O Som Do Jazz performs in festivals, concerts and special events, and its music has been included in the HBO series “Looking.”

Tickets are $8; $4 for students and SCF staff.
