Beautiful Pass-A-Grille Beach Wedding
Beautiful Pass-A-Grille, along the southern end of St. Petersburg Beach, has long been a favorite location for Beach Weddings. I performed a wedding there on June 30, 2017 for a lovely couple from Illinois. Because I arrived in plenty of time, I took the opportunity to have a light snack and beverage at The Wharf, an interesting local restaurant on the water with lots of locals enjoying their day.
When I arrived, I got set up and did a sound check. I used a BA 330 PA speaker and my Cordoba classical guitar. The Cordoba is a versatile instrument, which is perfect for playing both traditional wedding tunes Like Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” or The Beatle’s “All You Need Is Love.” I made sure I was warmed up and playing when the first guests began to arrive. I like to have the venue filled with music as guests step towards the wedding ceremony location. I particularly enjoy a varied selection of music for these weddings. I advise my brides and grooms on what seems to be trending, such as John Legend’s “All of Me,” but respect their judgement on their choices as well. Other tunes for this wedding included Bob Marley’s “Is This Love” and Yiruma’s “A River Flows In You.” The wedding couple and I chose to add distinction to the entrance of the members of the bridal party by selecting a unique tune for each group.
This time of the year, Florida is known for hot and humid weather. It was no exception for Friday’s wedding. Dressed in light colored clothing, I decided not to wear my tan jacket, which was a good choice. Also, hydration is a must, so always drink plenty of water when you’re out on these hot, humid days!
The one drawback to a beach wedding is the chance of inclement weather. Towards the end of the wedding, the clouds came rolling in and gave us a light sprinkling just before the conclusion of the ceremony. All in all, I enjoyed performing for this appreciative couple and their cordial guests! Also, it was a pleasure to work with Megan from Tided the Knot Beach Weddings!
